Materials extruded by the hydrostatic process exhibit very important characteristics

  • uniform fine grain structure
  • high dimensional accuracy
  • extruded material has cross-sectional relationships identical to the input material

providing a high quality feedstock material for onward processing with less waste.
Hydrostatically extruded aluminium, in particular, requires little or no further preparation for operations such as impact extrusion or forging. Significant improvements in yield compared to cast material ensue as there is no coarse grain material to machine off.

Composite materials, e.g. superconductors, where there is a requirement for exact replication of cross-sectional parameters, can only be extruded by the hydrostatic process.

Our expertise, with more than 30 years of experience, is at your disposal in applying the hydrostatic extrusion process to your material. As part of our service we

  • offer advice on billet preparation
  • carry out trials on sample billets
  • adapt our process to your application
  • extrude your material in large or small volumes

If you need material with uniform fine grain structure and high dimensional accuracy, in bar, rod or wire form, or need to convert composite materials, then contact us - we would be delighted to help.
