Rotating Machines
For more than 100 years, electrical machines have been built using copper wire to conduct electricity. They have been limited by the basic physics of this technology ever since.
High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) now overcome the limitations of these machines, replacing copper wire with new, virtually resistance-free superconductors.
HTS technology permits new machine designs, combining substantial weight and size reduction together with operational benefits.
Markets expect over 1,000 Gigawatts of new power generation capacity in the next 10 years. They require better, smaller, more flexible and efficient motors and generators for transportation and heavy industry.
The potential savings and benefits of HTS will be enormous.
