About Hydrostatic Extrusions Limited
THE PROCESS
Developed by Asea, the hydrostatic extrusion process uses a fluid compression medium under very high pressure to force material through a precision made die.

- Hydrostatic Extrusions Limited
1. Die Support
2. Composite Cu-Al billet
3. Hydrostatic Fluid
4. Ram
5. Seal at rear of billet
6. Extrusion die
7. Container
A hydraulically driven ram is inserted into the back of the high pressure container, and rapidly raises the pressure of the hydrostatic fluid, castor oil, which is surrounding the billet. There is no contact between the billet and the ram nor between the billet and the container, and it is the enveloping fluid pressure that extrudes the billet.
